Without a doubt there are numerous advantages when it comes to van hire, even more so for a 17 passenger van rental option. Often, large groups of people are prevented from travelling to their destination together, not just because transporting a big group of people can be very costly, making arrangement of public transportation for them can also be a real nightmare. Consequently, not only is a 17 passenger van a cost-efficient solution when it comes to long journeys, it can also take the headache out of organising the journey, leaving you with the freedom to explore and enjoy the open roads. In addition, should you hire a 17 passenger van from Sixt, we guarantee that you will be driving a well maintained and completely reliable vehicle, enabling you to transport a significant number of passengers safely and comfortably.
Driving licence category D1 is required for hiring a COMN or CNMN minibus. This type of driving licence is automatically granted if you passed the test before January 1st 1997. However, after this date, you must apply for the D1 category. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age. D1 category of driving licence permits you to drive vehicles with up to 17 seats, a maximum length of 8 metres and a trailer up to 750kg. According to the DVLA, drivers who received their licences before 1 January 1997 are eligible to drive 15 and 17 seaters provided their entitlement to drive minibuses (category D1) remains in force.
Please note that non-EU citizens can only drive vehicles with up to 9 seats only (i.e. IVAR, SVAR and FVMR).
